Q) What is a power point? Explain its features
Ans: PowerPoint is a complete presentation
graphics package. Power point is a part of Microsoft Office suite of
applications.
Features in PowerPoint
- Task
Panes for applying slide and presentation formatting - the ability to
organize layouts, design templates, and color schemes by clicking on the
Slide Layout and Slide Design task panes.
- Text AutoFit improvements - a new option
that automatically fits text (wraps & sizes) to the slide's
placeholder.
- Auto Layout - another new option whereas a
slide's layout may automatically adjust to fit text, pictures, or an
object when the chosen layout does not fit the content.
- New organizational charts and diagrams - a
collection of new diagrams that can be customized using text and
animation.
- New animation effects and animation schemes
- the ability to draw or use pre-designed motion paths for elements
(text, pictures, etc.) to follow or synchronize with multiple text and
object animations.
- Multiple design templates - a new option
that allows the use of one or more design templates in a presentation.
- Save background or selection as a picture -
the capability of creating a picture from any slide background or
selection that was created using Microsoft's drawing tools.
- Insert multiple pictures - the ability to
select and insert multiple pictures from a hard disk or removable jump
drive.
- Photo album - special layout features used
to create a photo album that can include picture frames or captions.
- Save a Web Site as a single file - the capability to save
all elements of a presentation in a single web file.
Q) Explain the Parts of Power point Window
Ans: To start PowerPoint, go to the Start menu
and select ProgramsàMicrosoft
OfficeàPower Point.
The PowerPoint window has toolbars and panes to
help you quickly create presentations. Most of the toolbars are common in
Office applications but may feature options unique to PowerPoint:
1.
Title Bar: Displays the document name followed by
a program name
2. Menu Bar: Contains a list of options to manage
and customize documents
3. Standard Toolbar: Contains shortcut buttons for
the most popular commands
4. Formatting Toolbar: Contains buttons used for
formatting
5. Status Bar: Displays slide position and the type
of design in PowerPoint
6. Drawing Toolbar: Contains tools for drawing
lines, shapes, and objects
7. Task Pane: Allows you to select tasks in
different categories and quickly enhance your slides in a few steps; provides
quick access to the most common actions and features in PowerPoint
8. Outline and Slides Tabbed Pane: Lets you easily
view a presentation in outline format (text), as well as a list of all the
slides in the presentation (with visuals)
- Help: Provides quick access to Help topics


Q) Creation of Presentation using AutoContent
Wizard.
AutoContent Wizard: The AutoContent Wizard allows you to create a
presentation based on suggested content and design. There provides the idea for
presentation
To create a new presentation using the
AutoContent Wizard
- Click
the From AutoContent Wizard… in the New Presentation Pane.
- From
the AutoContent Wizard dialog box displayed, click Next to continue.
- select
a type of presentation that you wish to create
- Click
Next button to continue.
- The next step is to decide how you will use your presentation
once it has been produced. By default, On-screen presentation was
selected.
- Click
Next button to continue working through the Wizard.
- You
can enter a presentation title and footer.
- Click
on the Next button to continue.
- Click
Finish to complete the AutoContent Wizard.

Design Template: PowerPoint design template contains color schemes, slide and title masters with custom formatting
and styled fonts, all designed to create a particular look. After you apply a PowerPoint design template, each slide you add has the same
outlook.
To create a new presentation from a design
template
1.
Click the From design template in the New
Presentation Pane.
- Immediately you will see design templates available below the
pane. For example, if click on Mountain Top template, you will see the
slide as follow:

The background of the slide is included and you
just need to insert the text as you wish.

Q) Creation of presentation using a Blank
presentation.
Step 1: To
start PowerPoint, go to the Start menu and select Programs àMicrosoft Office àPower Point.
Step 2: PowerPoint
opens in “ Normal” view. In normal view, you will see A blank slide in the
center of the window.
Step 3: Click
"Create a new presentation" to start a new presentation.
Step 4: Click
“Blank presentation” to create a presentation from scratch. Your other options
here are “From design template,” “From AutoContent wizard” and “From existing
presentation.”
Step 5: Click on a desired layout from the
choices that appear in the task pane.

Q) How to Inserting – editing –deleting slides
To insert a new slide:
1)
Option
#1: Go to Insert->New Slide. A blank slide will appear in the workspace,
positioned after the selected slide or slide you were viewing.
2)
Option
#2: Click on the "New Slide” button on the formatting toolbar at the top
of the PowerPoint window.
3)
Option
#3: On the Slides pane (off to the left), position your cursor to the point in
the presentation where you would like the new slide to appear (i.e. between
slides, at the beginning of the presentation, or at the end of the
presentation). Right click, and choose “New slide” from the menu that appears.
To Editing slides:
To copy slides
1)
Click
the slide icon of the slide you want to copy.
2)
Click
the Copy icon on the Standard toolbar. OR right-click on the slide icon and
select Copy.
To paste the slide
1)
Click the slide icon after which you would like
the newly copied slide to appear.
2)
Click the Paste icon on the Standard toolbar. OR
right-click on the slide icon and select Paste.

To delete a slide:
1.
Option #1: Go to Edit->Delete Slide. The
current slide will disappear from the workspace.
2.
Option #2: On the Slides pane (off to the left),
click on the slide you would like to delete, and then hit the <Delete>
key.

Q) Explain different types of Views in
PowerPoint.
Views: To
see the different PowerPoint views, from the Menu bar, click on the View and
you will see 4 types of view. Click on the particular view to see the effect.
1) Normal View: The Normal View is the default view
in PowerPoint. All slide editing is performed in this view. The normal view
comprises the Slide Pane, Outline and Slides tabs and the Notes Pane.
2)Slide Sorter View: The Slide Sorter view displays all slides in your
presentation as thumbnails. This view is useful to reorder, add, or delete
slides. You an also preview animation effects applied to each slide.
3)The Slide Show View (F5) : The Slide Show view allows you to view your
presentation as a slide show. Your presentation is displayed as a full screen
and you can view applied animations.
4)
The
Notes View: The Notes Page view displays how notes pages will print. A notes
page contains a smaller version of the slide and notes entered from the Notes
Pane underneath the slide.

Q) Write a brief note on custom animation.
An animation is the ability to move objects in a
slide without your direct intervention during a presentation. For example,
instead of displaying the main title directly when a slide comes up, you may
want it to show one word at a time.
A custom animation allows you to consider the
objects or the text boxes in a slide, one at a time, and to animate them.
To perform custom animation on one slide:
- You
can right-click a work or an object in the slide and click Custom
Animation...
- While
the slide is displaying, on the main menu, click Slide Show -> Custom
Animation...
Ex:
- To
create a custom animation for one slide, display the first slide
- Right-click
text on the slide and click Custom Animation...
- In
the Check To Animate Slide Objects list, click the check box of Text
- In the Entry Animation And Sound combo box
of the Effects property page, select Dissolve
- Click OK
- Save the presentation and view it

Q) Describe briefly about Slide transition.
A slide
transition is the visual motion when one slide changes to the next during a
presentation. By default, one slide simply replaces the previous one on screen,
much the same way that a slide show of photographs would change from one to the
next. Most presentation software programs provide many different transition
effects that you can use to liven up your slide show.

A transition is an effect used to introduce
slides from one to another. You can access the slide transitions by going to
the menu bar and selecting Slide Show >> Slide Transition. The Slide
Transition panel will appear on the right side of your screen:

Here,
you can control the type of transition used, and choose to apply it to your
whole slideshow or just an individual slide. If you click on a transition name,
a preview of the transition will play on your screen.

You
can decide on a speed and duration of the transition and even add a sound for
when the slide transitions from one to another.
Finally, you should decide upon what sort of
action causes the transition during your slideshow: a mouse click, or the
passing of a certain amount of time

Q) How to insert an Audio in
power point presentation.
Inserting Audio
You can add audio to any slide. In order to
insert audio, you must click on the Insert tab.
There are two different ways to insert an
audio file. 1 - from a file you have on your computer or a disk; or 2 - from
clip art
To insert an audio file: 1 - Choose the
location where your file is located 2 - Select the file 3 - Insert the file
into your presentation.
When you insert your audio clip, it will
appear as shown above. You can move it anywhere on your slide and change the
size of it

Q) How to add a clip art in power point.
Insert clip art
1.
Click the slide that you want
to add the clip art to.
2.
On the Insert tab, in the Images group, click
Clip Art.
3. In the Clip Art task pane, in the Search
for text box, type a word or phrase that describes the clip art that you want,
or type all or some of the file name of the clip art. To narrow your search, in
the Results should be list, select the check boxes next to Illustrations,
Photographs, Videos, and Audio to search those media types.
4.
Click Go.
5. In the list of results, click the clip
art to insert it.

Q) How to insert a picture in
power point from a file.
Insert a picture from a file
NOTE To insert a picture from your scanner
or camera, use the scanner or camera software to transfer the picture to your
computer. Save the picture, and then insert it by following the instructions
below. For more information about how to transfer a picture file from your
camera or scanner to your computer, see the documentation included with the
camera or scanner.
1. Click where you want to insert the
picture.
2. On the Insert tab, in the Images group,
click Picture
3. Locate the picture that you want to insert,
and then double-click it. For example, you might have a picture file located in
My Documents. To add multiple pictures, press and hold CTRL while you click the
pictures that you want to insert, and then click Insert.

To resize a picture, select the picture you have inserted in the slide. To
increase or decrease the size in one or more directions, drag a sizing handle
away from or toward the center, while you do one of the following:
• To keep the center of an object in the
same location, press and hold CTRL while you drag the sizing handle.
• To maintain the object's proportions,
press and hold SHIFT while you drag the sizing handle.
• To both maintain the object's proportions
and keep its center in the same location, press and hold both CTRL and SHIFT
while you drag the sizing handle.
